More After School Fun!

Beginning today, you can register your Kinder for the following:

Car Detailing Workshop
Children bring in their own Hot Wheel cars, Matchbox cars, or any small cars for a "trick my ride" car detailing workshop. Bring as many cars as you'd like! When we're done, we'll have a car show and race our cars! Materials for "tricking" their cars will be provided.
Thursday, April 29th, 1:45-2:45 - one day only!
$5 class fee

Masters of Art
Children will learn about the masters of art (Picasso, Monet, etc.), ...

Scientopia Monday?

If you'd like to get the kids together for some play, Jake and I will be at Scientopia tomorrow. I'm not sure what time, but we plan to stay there pretty long! In case you were unaware, Scientopia allows you to leave and come back the same day without an additional charge. I typically leave for lunch and then go back, or pack a lunch and eat there. It's $7 for as long as you'd like to stay. Hours are 10am - 5:30pm.

Book Swap A Big Success!

Thank you to all the families that donated books for our book swap, and thank you to Shawna, Wendy and Robin for helping to set up and assist the children! All the donated books were set up outside in the lunch area. Each Kinder classroom took a turn choosing 8 books from the selection. Can you believe it? Twilight in the Vineyards Quilt

On Monday, we will begin working on our quilt for the Twilight in the Vineyards fundraising event. Our plan is to have each child press a painted hand on a piece of fabric. Then, it will be sown and quilted. I can't wait to see how it turns out! Remember, you can get tickets for this event and bid on it. 100th Day of School - Thursday

This Thursday marks the 100th day we've been in school! We will be celebrating by sharing 100 of a snack that would be great for making trail mix. Here are some examples: Cheerios, raisins, mini mashmallows, mini pretzels, M&Ms, Fish crackers, etc. Each child's snack will be mixed up in one large bowl and everyone will get a big scoop! Christmas Party - Friday

This week, the children read Franklin's Christmas Gift. Franklin can't decide what to donate to his school's Christmas toy drive. At first, all of his toys seem too special to give away, then nothing seems special enough. With some inspiration from his Great Aunt Harriet, Franklin finally comes up with the perfect gift. We had a grand time at Scientopia today! There was a lot of energy in the room. The children explored the fruit stand, puppet show area, train station, craft corner, construction zone, and so much more! There were quite a few children dressed in costumes, while others were making a large wooden house. Some of the children even made the hair on their heads stand straight up! Scholastic Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair started today and will end this Friday. See the calendar for times. The Book Fair is held in the Northwood Library and open to families for purchasing some really great books at low prices. Not only do they have books for children, they have books for adults, such as cookbooks, as well. Walk-A-Thon Postponed

Due to the weather, the Walk-a-Thon will now be on Thursday, October 15th at 9:00 am. We really need parent volunteers to make this successful! Please come out and help if you can. Set up begins right after drop-off at 8:10 am. The Walk-a-Thon is from 9:00 am – 10:00 am. Help tally laps for your child’s classroom! It is fun! Clean-up begins right after the event and should be completed by 11:00 am. Thanks for your support!

Tyler's Team Fundraiser

On Friday, October 9th, all Kindergarten classes were invited to attend a playdate at PB&J's since there was no school. I saw many familiar faces: Diego A., Isabella, Reese, David, Daniel, Joe, Mailie, Christian and others. It was packed, so there may have been others I didn't see. Walk-A-Thon: Let's Raise Money!

On Wednesday, October 14th, we will participate in our annual Walk-A-Thon to help raise money for our school. Pledges can be per lap or a set amount. All pledge money must be turned in by October 21st to qualify for prizes. (Do not send in your pledge envelope until AFTER the event and all funds are collected.) On October 23rd, we will have a Prize Assembly to hand out prizes to the children. Let's make the Room 1 goal $1500 ($75 per child)! We can do it!

Field Trip: Connolly Ranch

Our visit to Connolly Ranch today was fantastic! The children got to brush and feed the donkeys and goats. They also fed the cow and horse some hay through the fence. The children loved the cow's big, rough tongue! Our guide, Mr. Michael, took us to the duck pond to see and learn about the ducks and geese. Some children even pet one of the geese! We saw chickens and turkeys, and got to visit the barn cat. Then things really got dirty! We used shovels to dig holes in the garden, and then plant...

On Wednesday, we will be going on a field trip to Connolly Ranch! If you haven't been there, I can tell you that's it's a really great place. They have all kinds of animals there: ducks, llamas, pigs, cows, chickens, goats and more. They also have a wonderful garden with many plants that you can eat.
